Totally anti-poor, says HD Gowda

Former Prime Minister and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda on Tuesday said the land Acquisition Bill is totally anti-poor and blatant in favouring corporates.  Participating in the debate in lok Sabha, Gowda said the corproates were eyeing only on the precious land and would never “spend single paisa” from their pocket for the development.
“I have written to this Prime Minister and former Prime Minister on the provisions of the land Bills. Being a farmer I could not let this happen to millions of farmers of this country. Don't believe these corproates. They would never spend any single paisa from their pocket. They are eyeing on the precious land and wanted to grab. See the case of Enron and other land acquisitions happened in the past decades. What is happening thereIJ Nothing. Farmers have gone and only barren lands,” said Gowda narrating the timelines of incidents.
Gowda blamed the pricing policy and said the valuation methods were totally non-transparent. “I am telling this Government. Don't believe these corporate with sweet promises. I am in the fag end of political career. This is my last Parliament. We should not allow such anti-farmer provisions,” saod Gowda seeking support from MPs, cutting across party lines.
