Following the Cabinet’s decision to accept the recommendations of two Commission’s to increase the reservation quota for the economically backward sections of Muslim minority and the Scheduled Tribes, the total reservation in the state was likely to go up to 60%.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, while briefing the media about the decisions of the Cabinet last evening announced that the Cabinet will again meet on Saturday evening to take a final call on the quantum of reservation hike for both the groups.

While he referred to his party’s election promise of increasing the quota for both the BC (E) or economically backward Muslims and the STs to 12% each, informed sources said that final decision may be less than that.
