Toll in Jagtial bus disaster has mounted to 62 with one more injured succumbing to injuries in Karimnagar hospital on Thursday, police said. This is the biggest loss of life ever in a road accident in the State.
Local Minister E Rajinder and MP Vinod Kumar visited the family of the person who died on Thursday and announced financial assistance. A bus of Telangana State road transport corporation overturned and fell into a gorge on Ghat road on Tuesday when it was coming from Kondagattu temple to Jagatiyal town. The over crowded bus was packed with the pilgrims. Meanwhile an eerie silence descended on the villages from where most of the victims hailed even as the ten day long Ganesh Chaturthi festival was being celebrated with gaiety elsewhere. The residents of worst affected Shanivarpeta, who lost 15 of their near and dear ones, were in deep shock and mourning. There was no celebration in the village on Thursday.
