Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Pravin Togadia on Friday filed a complaint against Ahmedabad Crime Branch joint commissioner JK Bhatt and sent a notice to the Crime Branch with regards to interrogation of member of his organisation in connection with arrest warrant against him.

In the notice the VHP leader has sought to know why and on whose orders did the Crime Branch personnel picked up VHP member Ghanshyambhai from his house late in the night and took him to Gaekwad Haveli office for interrogation, when he was neither an accused nor a witness in the case.

Togadia has also sought CCTV footage of the incident and names of officers on duty at the Crime Branch office that night.

The VHP chief had said that he wanted details of the phone calls of the police officers before they interrogated Ghanshyam and others and it should be made public. Togadia had gone missing on January 15 morning, after receiving an anonymous call informing him that a team of police personnel from Rajasthan was in the city to arrest him. He had even expressed apprehension that he would be killed in a fake encounter. The VHP leader later was found from Kotarpur area en route to Ahmedabad airport late in the evening.

He was taken to a private hospital in a semi-conscious state, with doctors attending on him stating that he was suffering from hypoglycemia. Crime  Branch’s joint commissioner of police Bhatt on the next day stated that Togadia had created ‘abduction’ drama.
