The Edappady Palaniswamy-led AIADMK Government which completed one year in office on Thursday got a shocker from the BJP, perceived as a friendly party from the days of J Jayaalithaa, the late Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo.

Pon Radhakrishnan, Union Minister of State for shipping, transport and finance said on Thursday that Tamil Nadu has become a hotbed of terrorism. “There may not have been any major terrorist attacks in the State like the one we witnessed on February 14, 1998 when Islamic terrorists killed nearly 60 persons through a series of  synchronised bomb  blasts. But Maoists, Islamic terrorists and members of various secessionist forces are roaming freely in the State. We come across reports of Tamil Police arresting Maoists on a regular basis,” said Radhakrishnan  at Coimbatore where he attended a Memorial Meeting held for the 60 persons who were killed in the 1998 bomb blasts.
