According to Government releases, there has been a fall in the number of Covid-19 cases diagnosed in Tamil Nadu since September 4. While there were 5,976 new cases on September 4, the subsequent days saw the numbers coming down to 5,870 (Sept 5), 5,783 (Sept 6), 5,776 (Sept 7), 5,684 (Sept 8) and 5,584(Sept 9). Similar trend was noticed in the number of persons succumbed to the pandemic since September 4.

On Thursday, 6,185 fully cured persons were discharged from hospitals across the State. The day also saw 83,411 persons getting tested in the 163 laboratories spread all over the State.

Except in Chennai (991) and Coimbatore (440),  the number of new patients tested positive showed a decline. Chennai’s cluster districts Chengalpet (279) , Thiruvallur (296) and Kancheepuram (173) showed number of new cases were coming down. But districts like Salem (300) and Cuddalore (263) continued to be problematic regions.

There is a feeling among doctors that if this trend is sustained, Tamil Nadu may see an impressive subside in the number of covid-19 patients.
