TMC responds to Amit Shah’s infiltration jibe at Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

The Trinamool Congress has strongly responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s infiltration jibe at Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee not only holding the Border Security Force functioning under Home Ministry responsible for infiltration but also accusing the Union Government for neglecting the security of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir that led to the Pulwama attack.

Immediately after Shah the Trinamool Congress with promoting infiltration to pursue its vote bank politics Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya and MPs Kakoli Ghoshdastidar and Sagarika Ghosh tore into the Home Minister’s arguments on infiltration and atrocities on women during Mamata Banerjee’s rule. “The BSF works under the Home Ministry so it is the Home Minister who should be held accountable for infiltrations,” Bhattacharya said demanding his resignation for Pahalgam attack too.

“Instead of criticising Mamata Banerjee the Home Minister should have resigned by now as he has failed to protect the lives of 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam, who should be held accountable for the security lapses, it is the Home Minister. And after the attack it is almost one and half months and the terrorists who had killed so many innocent Indians are still at large and the security forces have failed to catch them, whose failure is this and here the Home Minister has come with a big mouth to attack the TMC Government instead of putting forward his resignation in the first place,” Bhattacharya said.

Senior TMC MP Kakoli Ghoshdastidar too hit out at the Home Minister for “poor border management” saying “it is the Centre and its BSF that mans the borders and not the State. You have also given additional jurisdiction to the BSF — till about 50 km inland — still they are failing. Is it the fault of the State Government or the Centre.”

On Shah’s vow that his party BJP would oust Mamata Banerjee from power in Bengal, the TMC leaders iterated that like in the past the TMC would “once again hit a six and they will watch the ball going out of the stadium, the TMC will come back to power for the fourth consecutive term and they will stand and watch, the only difference from the earlier occasions is that this time the TMC will return to power with 250 out of 294 seats.”

In the meantime all the senior BJP leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and others would “come and go like political tourists with no real impact on the electoral results.”

The TMC leaders also raised the Pulwama attack issue saying how in 2019, “despite intelligence reports of terror attack the security forces were not airlifted to Kashmir and taken by road and finally they paid with their lives.”

Another senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said hit back at Shah refuting the corruption charges that he leveled on Bengal Government. “It is an irony that a sieve is asking a needle about the hole in it. The BJP Government is selling out the entire country, its Governments are ridden with scams everywhere. From MP to Manipur to Maharashtra and here they are accusing the TMC of corruption. Even a horse will laugh at them,” he said refuting the charges of atrocities against women too.

“Before talking about women in Bengal they should think about the condition of women in MP, UP, Delhi and other places. Bengal is the safest place by far,” he said.
