TMC observes 'Black Day'

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday launched a fierce attack on Narendra Modi Government from her office at Nabanna while her comrades attacked the Prime Minister’s followers on the street with fisticuffs as a trademark of Trinamool Congress’ observance of a Black Day on the first anniversary of demonetisation that Banerjee called “DeMoDisaster” — an “apocalyptic step” that merited “thorough probe” to find out whether “it was imposed on the nation to paint black money in white”.

Banerjee told the media that “demonetisation is a big scam which demanded “thorough investigation”. She said “if a thorough investigation is conducted then this will be proved,” adding “demonetisation was not to combat black money”, but “to convert black money into white money for vested interests of the political party in power.”

“I told from the day one that this is going to be a big disaster,” Banerjee said. “It has hit the middle class and the poor people in particular and ruined them. At Surat alone one lakh people have lost their jobs due to demonetisation. It was an organised loot of the Indian economy and perhaps the biggest scam that the country has seen.”

Tearing into Modi's "Tughlaqan" ways Banerjee who herself once earned the same appellation from a former Union Finance Minister said, "we have read in the books about Muhammad Bin Tughlaq's rule but now we are experiencing it for ourselves what Tughlaqan system was all about."

Even as she tore into Demonetisation her men on the streets tore down a stage erected by the BJP's and tore away saffron workers' noses at Rashbehari Crossing right in front of the Tollygunge Police Station barely a mile away from her official Kalighat residence.

All hell broke loose when a huge Trinamool rally pounced on a saffron stage put up by the BJP to observe anti-Black Money Day, beat up their men smashed chairs and literally decimated the arena which was erected by the saffron outfit with police permission in front of the Tollygunge Police Station.

The cops looked the other way even as a large crowd of goons led by Trinamool leader and Kolkata Corporation Chairperson Mala Roy attacked the BJP workers giving them bloody noses.

later, Chief Minister ignored the video footages to dismiss the charges and said it was the BJP that had attacked the TMC while her senior Minister Subroto Mukherjee said "if the BJP attacks us are we expected to throw sweetmeats at them."

While her men did it physically she launched a verbal attack at the State secretariat Nabanna claiming demonetisation had an apocalyptic impact on the Indian economy. She said, "it was an economic disaster and we must know what was behind the veneer of Notebandi. It seems strings were being pulled from somewhere else. That has to be found out."

The Prime Minister promised "Acchhe din (good days)" but eventually handed out "Bure din (bad days)" Banerjee said even as her Finance Minister Amit Mitra said "the Prime Minister had asked for 50 days to set things right but 365 days have elapsed since demonetisation disaster and Indian economy had gone from bad to worse." He complained 80 per cent of the informal sector had collapsed on account of job creation.
