Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday said that he had definite proof to show how a senior Trinamool Congress leader and a people's representative had travelled abroad umpteen times since 2014 to stash away ill-gotten money in other countries.
Though he would not name the said people's representative (here an MP), Adhikari referred to air travel details to show how “after 2014 a senior people's representative of the TMC travelled abroad frequently on various pretexts to siphon off crores of rupees.” Earlier, Banerjee had questioned the efficacy and “credibility” of the people who traveled with Banerjee to Spain and Dubai and wondered whether there was any hawala connection.
Money was being siphoned off by various official trips the State Opposition Leader had then said though without giving any name.
He has even filed an RTI with the State government seeking information about the people who traveled with the Chief Minister and the money spent on their travel.
Adhikari's statement was challenged on Sunday by TMC State vice president Jayprakash Majumdar who dared him to share the name and details of the person who had allegedly siphoned off money.
“He has tried to raise such sensational issues earlier also in order to keep BJP relevant in Bengal … he knows that BJP is on the wane and will be a thing of the past after the Lok Sabha elections so he is talking such nonsense … if he has any proof then why does he not place them … why does he not give the name of the people's representative who repeatedly visited abroad to siphon off money,” Majumdar said.
