TMC lEADER SEEKS PROTECTION FOllOWING THREE INCIDENTS OF THEFT AT HIS RESIDENCE

Published on:

Three thefts in three months at the residence of TMC leader Sudip Bandhopadhyay invited concern from several Opposition members in the lok Sabha on Thursday as he said he was feeling “insecure” and sought the Speaker’s “protection”.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured him that it would not be repeated and he will take up the matter with the Delhi Police Commissioner. Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Bandhopadhyay said thefts had taken place at his residence at Maulana Azad Road on March 7 and 9 and the last one took place only Wednesday, the cops managed to catch the fleeing accused. “I am feeling insecure... I want your protection,” he said.

As several Opposition members shared his concern, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan asked the Government to look into the matter and told members that she was there to help him. When Rajnath said he did not know about the thefts, TMC members protested saying the matter was earlier brought to the notice of the Government with the latter making a promise that it would be looked into immediately.
