In an unprecedented show of contempt against the judiciary the lawyers belonging to the ruling Trinamool Congress on Monday gheraoed a senior judicial officer for more than five hours in their bid to prevent him from passing orders in the Saradha chit fund case involving jailed State Minister Madan Mitra. Even as the ACJM of Alipore Police Court acting on a petition from the CBI counsel to introduce correction in his earlier orders in which Section 409 got dropped on account of clerical errors proceeded to write his order, a bunch of Trinamool backed advocates prevented him from doing so and even insulted him and threatened him with dire consequences sources said.
“They were trying to force the court not to include the Section 409 on Monday as Madan Mitra’s bail plea will be heard on Wednesday and he will be able to take advantage of the absence of this Section and slip through the legal loophole just like Trinamool MP Srinjoy Bose,” said CBI lawyers.
