BJP and the Trinamool Congress conspired together to demolish the impact of Left-democratic parties from Bengal, State CPI(M) secretary Dr Suryakanto Mishra has said.
Attacking the two parties, calling one the proverbial Trojan Horse of the other, Mishra, also a politburo member, said, “TMC is the Trojan Horse of BJP,” in the Opposition camp, urging people to identify their hidden camaraderie “or else you will have to repent the way you have been for the past eight years” of the Mamata Banerjee rule.
Attacking the BJP for its “nefarious designs” to deconsecrate the Constitution of India by robbing it of its “secular democratic” ethos Mishra said “if it comes for the second time the very future of the secular democratic republic enshrined in our Constitution will be at stake.”
On who brought the BJP in Bengal and who was behind the saffron party’s steady emergence, the senior Left leader and a former State Minister said, “the TMC had first tried to bring the saffron menace directly to Bengal through an alliance. But when the people under the Left leadership rejected that move she (Chief Minister) took a circuitous path by trying to communally divide Bengal, the way she did all these years” — by propping one community much to the chagrin of the other.
“It is the TMC that has to answer the proliferation of Sangh in the State, it is for the Trinamool to explain the import of a political culture in this State which had never been present since the Independence,” Mishra said adding the “Chief Minister will have to answer to the people for her misdeeds.”
For the BJP he said despite its meteoric rise and undue importance in the media the party “will never be able to survive in Bengal as the region is basically secular and Left minded with impact of the renaissance culture.”
