TMC for achchhe din under Didi

Now it is the turn of the Trinamool Congress to vouch for Achchhe Din on its anniversary which would definitely come under the stewardship of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee. Party MP Abhishek Banerjee said 2019 was going to be a “year of change for good” and the Trinamool Congress would herald that change under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.

Tuesday was the 21st anniversary of the Bengal ruling outfit. The party was founded by Mamata Banerjee on this day in 1998.

Presaging a year of both struggle and change Banerjee, the nephew of the Bengal Chief Minister, said “this change is going to be the change for good” when the “Trinamool Congress will bring back good old days for the people in general and the working class in particular,” adding the Chief Minister was destined to play a pivotal role in the epoch-making change that India was going to witness in a few months from now.

“We should prepare to fight hard in order to ensure that we are able to gift the people of this country a secular and progressive India in New Delhi under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee,” the younger Banerjee said, adding his party “has turned 21” which “signifies struggle youthfulness and change.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister on Wednesday lambasted the Centre once again for stealing away the credit of the crop insurance for farmers of the State.

She said “just by bearing 20 per cent of what is spent for the purpose the Centre is taking credit of the crop insurance,” adding her Government will not allow the BJP-led Central Government to tag its name with crop insurance.

Banerjee was addressing an administrative meeting in Bolpur in Birbhum district. About 49 per cent farmers were currently benefited by the crop insurance scheme, the Chief Minister said, adding the remaining 51 per cent would soon be brought within the scheme.

She said “we won’t allow the Centre to play politics with such a sensitive issue like crop insurance for farmers. They are sharing only 20 per cent of the premium amount while the State Government pays the remaining 80 per cent whereas, they are claiming the credit for it. In future we will pay the entire amount and remove the Centre’s name from the scheme.”

Banerjee had earlier declared a new scheme called Krishak Bandhu for the farmers where by the Government would pay Rs 2 lakh to the families of the farmers if they died — during productive age — that is before the age of 60. Besides she also announced a yearly allowance of Rs 5,000 for each acre of single-crop lands. The amount would be paid in two tranches.

“We have already waived agricultural tax and abolished mutation system for farmers as they are our mainstay,” she said.
