In what is being viewed as a retaliatory measure against the BJP for sending central teams to violence-hit areas of Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has decided to send its own fact-finding teams to the BJP-ruled States to probe incidents of rapes and violence.
The decision comes a day after a second BJP team visited Ilambazar in Birbhum district where a party worker Sheikh Rahim was hacked to death by the Trinamool goons. The earlier team led by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and SS Ahluwalia had visited Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas where 23 BJP supporters were wounded when TMC men fired at them.
A team comprising Trinamool MPs — Sukhendu Shekhar Roy, Arpita Ghosh, Uma Soren, Kakoli Ghoshd-astidar — would visit Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh where a 30-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and paraded naked.
The fact-finding team was prepared soon after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told senior colleagues that she would follow a “tit-for-tat policy sending my own teams to BJP-ruled States wherever there is any problem.”
Ghoshdastidar a two-time MP from Barasat said the dates had, however, not been fixed but “we will be visiting the area soon to find out the facts of the dastardly incident.”
