With the YSR Congress pressing ahead with its plans of massive Samaikhya Sankharavam or pro-United Andhra Pradesh rally on Saturday and pro-Telangana groups threatening to disrupt it, police have pulled out all the stops to make fool proof security arrangements for the meeting.

With YS Jaganmohan Reddy reviewing the preparations in a meeting of his party leaders, the YSRCP was going all out to make the rally a big show of its strength as part of its campaign against planned bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, lakhs of people from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions were being mobilised for the rally.

Several pro-Telangana organisations including the students Joint Action Committee have said that they will disrupt the meeting and stop the people of other regions from converging on Hyderabad. The YSRCP has organised the rally at the lal Bahadru Stadium, the same place where the APNGOs had also held a rally of 40,000 employees from Seemandhra region last month.

Hyderabad city Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that all possible measures were being taken to prevent any untoward incident on the day of the rally. In addition to the city and the civil police, 16 companies of Central paramilitary forces and 34 platoons of Andhra Pradesh Special Police Force were being deployed in the city.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti executive committee was also meeting in Hyderabad on Friday to chalk out its future course of action. The party was also expected to come out against the YSRCP rally. A situation of confrontation was developing in the city when State Governor ESl Narasimhan was in New Delhi meeting the top leadership to discuss the present situation in Andhra Pradesh created by the decision to form Telangana State. Union Minister Veerappa Moily was among the important leaders who met the Governor on Thursday.
