Three people have been arrested in connection with the firing at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, including a 17-year-old boy and two adults identified in media reports as Hrithik Kumar alias Roshan, 22, and Rehan, 18.

The suspects were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, on Monday, October 19, by a joint team of the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police while they were travelling on the Pune–Jaipur Express. The operation followed inputs from Mumbai Police, which used CCTV footage to trace the suspects.

Kota City Police Superintendent Tejasvini Gautam said two of the arrested men allegedly opened fire, while the third was a bike-taxi driver. Media reports identify Kumar, also known as Roshan, as a Mumbai resident who worked as a bike-taxi rider, while Rehan is reportedly from Haryana. The identity of the juvenile has been withheld in view of legal protections for children accused of offences.

The firing took place around 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Shroff was returning by car after playing football when motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly fired several rounds at the vehicle.

The actor escaped serious injury, but his driver, Firdosh, and a bystander, Umesh Chavan, sustained bullet injuries and were taken for treatment.

Shatrughan Sinha calls incident shocking

Veteran actor and Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha reacted to the firing incident on X, saying Tiger Shroff was “lucky to go unhurt” while expressing concern over the actor’s injured driver. He described the incident as shocking and acknowledged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for taking the matter seriously. “What’s happening????” Sinha wrote, questioning the attacks and threats targeting the actor.

Mumbai Police registered a case in connection with the shooting under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Investigators are examining the motive behind the attack and a social media post claiming responsibility in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police have not independently established the claim or confirmed the gang’s involvement.

The investigation is continuing, with police working to establish the motive and the individual roles of the arrested suspects.
