Three heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists gunned down in Uri

Three heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan were gunned down by the alert jawans of the Indian Army along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thursday.

The infiltration bid was foiled near Madiyan Nanak post in Kamalkote area of Uri sector.

It seems the terrorist handlers sitting across the line of control have activated the launching pads to push small groups of infiltrators via Rajouri/Poonch and Uri sector.

The infiltration bid in the Uri sector was foiled close on the heels of two back to back incidents in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri.

Two infiltrators were killed on August 23/24  in the Lam sector while one of them was caught alive while he was escorting two others inside the Indian territory on August 21 in the Jhangar sector.

A Srinagar based Defence Spokesman Col Emron Musavi Thursday said,  " the operation was launched on the basis of military intelligence  inputs  about the presence of suspected infiltrators in the area". Subsequently, multiple ambushes were launched  to trap the group of infiltrators on August 24.

According to a Defence Spokesman, the infiltrators had managed to sneak inside the Indian territory taking advantage of the thick foliage and blanket of clouds.  The infiltration bid was detected by the alert troops with the help of  Intensive electronic surveillance around 7.00 a.m on August 25.

However, the first contact with the terrorists was established around 8.45 a.m leading to a heavy exchange of firing in which three terrorists were neutralised. The general searches in the area continued till 2.00 p.m.

The troops also recovered two AK rifles, one Chinese M-16 rifle along with other war like stores.
