The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) is vigorously pursuing a village-based development model for the country.
In its efforts on these lines, the Sangh is organising a three- day meeting of all its Parivar heads at Mantralaya, a border town in Andhra Pradesh, commencing on Friday.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has already reached there and he would be taking stock of the work of all Sangh Parivar organisations. BJP chief Amit Shah and other heads of the Sangh are expected to take part in the meet.
The meeting apart from discussing the progress about Gram Vikas will also be dealing with review of the organisations under the RSS. The future plans, review of the present work and other related issues will be discussed.
The RSS chief has been talking about Gram Vikas, grass-root development of the village. Although the project has been there for more than 20 years, this meeting assumes significance as it comes ahead of 2019 polls.
A source indicated that this meeting is significant as it is also expected to deal with a strategy for 2019 general elections which is crucial for the BJP.
Mantralaya is a pilgrim village in Kurnool district of AP, on the banks of Thunga Bhadra, along Karnataka border.
The village is known for the brindavan of saint Raghavendra Swami, of 17th century, who entered samadhi alive in front of his disciples.
