The Kerala Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution against the death threat issued to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of the CPI(M) by Madhya Pradesh-based RSS leader Kundan Chandrawat.
Stating that it was unfortunate that the Madhya Pradesh Police had slapped only minor charges on Chandrawat, the resolution moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister AK Balan of the CPI(M) sought imposition of more serious charges on him. The resolution said the death threat issued to Pinarayi was highly condemnable.
The MP-based RSS leader had a few days ago stirred a hornets’ nest by declaring a bounty of Rs 1 crore for CM’s head. Chandrawat had made the announcement during a speech in Ujjain as he believed that Pinarayi was responsible for the violence against RSS-BJP workers in Kerala.
