Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground may have witnessed many historical rallies but none like this, Bengal BJP leaders who have been sweating out overtime to make the rally a grand success say.
Generally immune to any saffron wave, the people this time round are even shelling out money to reserve a seat at the Wednesday’s rally of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
Already the party has sold about 21,700 seats for `100 or more, insiders said adding people were offering even “many times more as donation” to watch Modi speak.
“It is not that the seats are booked for only those who will be able to pay. Asking for some money was just a ploy to generate funds as we are not going to organise the rally or fight the polls with the money accumulated through Saradha chit-fund or the capitalists like the Trinamool Congress” Rahul Sinha State BJP president said adding however the people could book tickets even if they do not pay for the seats “but they will have to come early and take their seats.”
“Considering the number of membership we have in the State it may not be very difficult as our membership has more than doubled to more than 7 lakh in the past several months,” said Sinha.
