Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav hit out at the party MlCs who resigned from the membership of the upper house and party and later joined the BJP. He said they need not cite flimsy reason for leaving the party and they were free to leave the party as per their convenience.
“Those who want to leave the party are free to go wherever they want to go. We would at least know that as to who is with us at our hour of crisis and who our all weather friend is and remain with us. The turncoats should stop inventing fake alibis like they were feeling suffocated or the environment within the party has been vitiated. If at all they want to cite reason for leaving the party then they should come out with a robust new idea or none at all for leaving the party. All those who want to leave the party need not cite any reason for that’’, said the SP president Akhilesh Yadav at the State office of the party here on Monday.
Making a jibe at his rival the ruling BJP SP president said “BJP is doing a good job by engineering defections from the opposition parties. As long as the political leader is not in the BJP, he is a land mafia and a notorious person, as soon as the persons joins the BJP , the persons becomes a virtuous’’.
On the defection of the party MlC Bukkhal nawab , the SP president said “I am given to understand that Bukkhal Nawab was involved in some land related issue and on the basis of those documents pressure was mounted on him by the administration and he resigned from the membership of the upper house and later joined the BJP’’. Akhilesh added “there must have been some other reason for leaving the party. They were not that bad as they are being painted by the media. I had met Bukkhal Nawab a month ago during the Eid festival and then he did not share with me about leaving the party’’.
Achilles Yadav said “I have no idea as to why the senior party leader and MlC Dr Sarojini Agarwal resigned from the party and the membership of the house’’. He however added “there must be some deal between Sarojini Agarwal and the BJP and I am not aware of that’’.
“Defections from the party are a good omen for us. The party is thriving and growing as large number of people from all walks of life have joined the party during the recent membership drive launched by the party and we will form the next Government in UP in 2022’’, claimed the SP president. So far three Samajwadi party MlCs –Yashwant Singh, Bukkhal Nawab and Sarojini Agarwal have resigned from the party. Madhukar Jaitly another SP MlC was about to resign from the membership of the State legislative council, and the party membership but retracted his steps.
