Five assailants fled away with Rs10 lakh cash and jewellery worth over Rs40 lakh, after holding hostage the elderly parents of a businessman in their house in northwest Delhi’s Model Town area on Friday morning, the police said. The incident took place at about 4 am when Bhushan Jain (40), who runs an automobile business from a showroom in Azapur was out for work. His parents KK Jain (65) and his 59-year-old mother were present at the house located at D-Block in Mahendru Enclave. “After breaking the door of the terrace, the assailants barged into the room where Jain and his wife were sleeping,” said a police officer, adding, “They asked him to be quiet and hand over the keys of the locker to them.”

When Jain resisted and refused to hand over the keys to them, the assailants tied them up with ropes and gagged them. Then they locked the door from outside and fled with the cash and jewellery. The police said a case has been registered and police teams were formed to nab the culprits. Also, the cops have collected the CCTV footage in which the assailants are shown moving towards the house. As the hunt has begun to crack the case, the cops have not ruled out the role of some insiders in sharing information about the cash and jewellery at the businessman’s house with the culprits.
