India’s leading English daily and media brand The Pioneer will celebrate the first anniversary of its Raipur edition on Saturday evening.
A symposium on ‘Chhattisgarh — The role model for India’s Food Security’ is being organised at the Queens Club of India, VIP Road, Raipur, to mark the occasion.
Chief Minister Raman Singh (chief guest), Editor-in-Chief of The Pioneer and Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra and Vice-Chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism Sachchidanand Joshi, along with The Pioneer’s Raipur edition chairman Vijay Budhia and Resident Editor Sujeet Kumar will not only highlight the importance of the State’s endeavour towards freeing the masses from the shackles of hunger, but also the year-long journey of the newspaper in the State.
Intellectuals, public representatives, top bureaucracy, academia and the who’s who of Chhattisgarh are expected to savour the august gathering from 6.30 pm onwards. Notably, The Pioneer has completed its year-long journey in Chhattisgarh after it was launched in the State on May 6, 2012 by former Deputy Prime Minister lK Advani.
The newspaper was scheduled to share the joy of its year-long journey with the masses in the month of May itself this year, but due to the tight schedule of ‘Parivartan’ and ‘Vikas’ yatras, involving both the Opposition Congress and the State administration respectively, followed by the unfortunate May 25 Jeeram valley massacre of the Congress leadership, it was not possible.
Now that the State’s polity and masses have returned to normalcy, The Pioneer’s efforts to restart the discussion on the State’s achievements and its hospitality are set to enthuse the gathering.
