Thane: Thane Police seized mephedrone, commonly known as MD, worth about Rs 1.5 crore in Mumbra and arrested four foreign nationals, three from Tanzania and one from Nigeria, officials said.

DCP (Zone 1) Balasaheb Patil said police received information that some foreign nationals were staying in the Samrat Nagar area of Mumbra. After an investigation by the Detection Branch, MD drugs worth Rs 1.5 crore were seized from their residence. Police said the Mumbra unit laid a trap and caught the four accused red-handed. The Mumbra police raid is part of an aggressive campaign against narcotics under the Thane Police Commissionerate. The case is being investigated, and the accused are alleged to be involved in drug trafficking. The reports I found did not give the quantity seized, the accused’s names, how long they had been in India or whether their visas were valid.
