Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday said corruption is at its peak under the TMC regime in West Bengal and there seemed to be a competition between TMC chief Mamata Banerjee and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal as to who can indulge in more corruption.
Reacting to Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena’s push for a CBI probe into the Kejriwal-led Government’s new Excise Policy, including lapses made by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to “provide post tender undue benefits to liquor licensees, the Union Information and Broadcasting minister said Kejriwal Government was setting “new records of corruption”
Talking to media persons, Thakur said the Delhi CM has not kept any portfolio under him but he has given his Ministers free rein to indulge in corruption by allocating them important portfolios.
“The way Sisodia, who is also the Excise Minister in the AAP-led Delhi Government, has been accused of corruption and the way liquor vendors were given free hand to operate in the national Capital, suggests that the Kejriwal Government is knee-deep in corruption,” he said.
“ Those who used to give sermons on corruption, are today themselves indulged in it,” he said.
Talking to news agency ANI, the Minister said Kejriwal sheltered the corrupt, and the way in which he lied on TV yesterday and couldn’t respond to any of BJP’s allegations showed that LG’s recommendation to MHA holds ground.
“Corrupt Ministers should resign. A corrupt man like you has no right to be in power,” Thakur told ANI.
Referring to Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain, who’s in judicial custody in connection with a money laundering case, Thakur said, “You’re (Arvind Kejriwal)silent on LG’s letter to MHA for CBI probe into corruption allegations. It shows corruption by your people under your nose. There were allegations against Jain who lost his memory in jail.”
