A day after Army Chief General Manoj Pande said the situation in the Rajouri-Poonch region is a matter of “concern”, suspected terrorists late Friday evening once again targeted a convoy of army vehicles near Krishna Ghati area of the Poonch district from a nearby forested area. No one was injured in the surprise attack which took place around 6.00 p.m.
The security forces have launched a massive search operation in the area to track down the footprints of the terrorists hiding in the thickly forested area.
The fresh attack comes after almost three weeks of a dastardly attack on two army vehicles in the Dera ki Gali area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch. Four soldiers were killed in action in the deadly strike on December 21, 2023.
Confirming the attack on an army convoy, Nagrota-based White Knight Corps posted a tweet on X (earlier Twitter), “At around 6.00 p.m on Friday, a Security Forces convoy of vehicles was fired upon by suspected terrorists from a jungle near Krishna Ghati in the Poonch sector.
No casualties to own troops. Joint search Operations by the Indian army and Jammu Kashmir police are in progress”.
