Telugu film actor and comedian Vijay Sai committed suicide at his residence in Hyderabad, police said. His body was found hanging from ceiling fan at his flat in Yusufguda area of the city on Monday morning.
Hyderabad police said they found a selfie video on his phone in which he blamed his estranged wife Vanitha and few others.
“I am ending my life for my honor and due to the mental torture”, he said in the video addressed to his father.
The police was looking in to the case from all the angles, officials said. The body was taken to Osmania Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Vijay Sai in his video said that he took the decision to commit suicide due to the behavior of his wife and threats of a few others. He named Vara lakshmi, Vinni, industrialist Shashidhar and lawyer Srinivas as responsible for his death. “Please see to it that none of them are spared”, he said. He was survived by a daughter.
The actor, who had had started his film career with “Ammailu Abbailu” (Girls and Boys) had last appeared in 2015 movie and was known to be passing through financial and personal difficulties.
His wife Vanitha who was living separately for some time told the media that she was not aware of the causes of his suicide. “He had an affair with another woman and after seeing this with my own eyes I had complained to his parents but they did not take any action. Our divorce proceedings are in the court for the last two years”, she said.
On the allegation of the actor’s parents that she had demanded a lot of money as part of divorce settlement causing mental agony to him, Vanitha said, “I only asked for the return of what was given as dowry to him so that I could take care of my daughter”.
