If the survey commissioned by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is to be believed the State is all set to become ‘Opposition Mukt’ or free of any Opposition party.
KCR who shared the results of the survey at TRS legislature Party meeting in Hyderabad said that if elections are held now, TRS will bag 111 of 119 seats in the State Assembly. All other parties, the survey found, will either lose their present strength or will be wiped out. MIM will be second with 6 seats, one less than last elections, it said.
BJP which had bagged five seats in 2014 and Telugu Desam which had won 15 seats will be wiped out completely, KCR told the meeting quoting the survey. Even the Congress which had won 21 seats will come down to only two. He even identified the two seats —Madhira in Khammam and Kalwajurthi in Mahabubnagar.
Compared to the earlier survey conducted six months ago TRS tally has gone up by 5. KCR attributed it to improved performance by all the party MlAs, Government’s ability to fulfill the promises and lack of any issue for the opposition to fight on. “There would be no Modi wave in Telangana,” he said.
The survey claim has come in the backdrop of recent visit by the BJP President Amit Shah to Telangana during which he not only launched an aggressive attack on KCR regime but also claimed that the BJP will come to power in the State in 2019.
Amit Shah’s criticism of TRS Government has generated a lot of political heat with KCR carrying out a no hold barred counter attack on Amit Shah.
Apart from predicting the outcome of the next elections KCR also shared the ranking of party MlAs on their performance. The report gave the top slot to K Chandrasekhar Rao with approval rating in his Constituency with 98% and his son K Taraka Rama Rao came second with 91% rating in Sricilla constituency. KCR's nephew T Harish Rao was third with 89% popularity.
