Senior political figure from Telangana region and Independent MlA from Nagarkurnool in Mehbubnagar district Nagam Janardhan Reddy was likely to join the BJP.

Once, one of the top leaders of Telugu Desam and former Minister, Nagam Janardhan Reddy met the BJP national president Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Thursday amid the speculations that he was all set to

turn saffron.

What gave credence to the rumour mill was his remark following the meeting that formation of Telangana will be possible only if the BJP-led NDA came to power at the Centre. “If Telangana has to be formed, NDA has to come to power,” he said.

However, he avoided direct reply to the question about his joining the TDP. “I need some more time to decide. I will take a decision after consulting my supporters,” he said.

However, the local source in the BJP said that it was a matter of time before Janardhan Reddy joins the BJP.

Nagam Janardhan Reddy had resigned from the TDP following differences with the party president N Chandrababu Naidu on the issue of Telangana.

Earlier, there were speculations that Nagam may join the TRS but apprehending that he may not get due importance from TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, he opted for the BJP.
