Troubles seem to be mounting for Congress ceneral secretary Digvijaya Singh following his serious allegations against the Telangana Police.

A case was registered against Singh at Jubilee Hills police station on Thursday. Police inspector S Venkat Reddy said Singh was booked after taking legal opinion from the experts on a complaint lodged by Telangana Rashtra Samithi MlA Maganti Gopinath. The complaint was received three days back but case was registered after taking legal opinion now, he said.

Digvijaya Singh had alleged that the Telangana Police was radicalising Muslim youth by running fake websites in the name of ISIS and posting inflammatory material.

Singh had said the photos of Shajapur train blast in Madhya Pradesh were posted on the website soon after the incident and the website in fact being run by the Telangana Police.

Digvijaya Singh’s allegations on Twitter has sparked off a major row with Telangana Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy warning of legal action if he did not withdrawn his remarks. However, Singh not only refused to withdraw but insisted that he stood by his claims and said he was ready to face the legal proceedings.

Another senior Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, state director General of police Anurag Sharma and TRS MP K Kavitha have strongly denied the allegation and said that it will demoralise the Telangana Police. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has also strongly condemned Singh’s statement.

However, senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao has come out in defence of Singh. “Why the TRS Government is afraid of Digvijaya Singh’s allegations. let the Government order an inquiry,” he said.

Describing Singh as a senior leader, who never speaks without evidence, Hanumantha Rao said that when Singh had proof of wrong doings of Telangana Police, the State Government should order a probe.
