Resignation of the Rayalaseema-Andhra legislators to prevent bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh has evoked strong reaction from Telangana leaders.
Telangana Joint Action Committee convener Kodanda Ram and Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader T Harish Rao have condemned the resignations as a conspiracy against the aspirations of Telangana people. “The Chief Minister’s hand is at work behind the resignations,” Kodanda Ram said.
He warned that if the Congress does not take decision in favour of Telangana, the people of the region will uproot the part. “We will not accept any thing less than Telangana State comprising of 10 districts with Hyderabad as its capital,” he said.
TRS legislator T Harish Rao alleged that Congress MlA Veerasiva Reddy had resigned at the behest of the Chief Minister as he was opposed to Telangana. “If Congress continues to play such dramas, the party will be wiped out,” he said.
Meanwhile, State Congress president Botsa Satyanarayana said that the resignation of Veerasiva Reddy had not come to his attention.
Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has become the butt of the criticism of Telangana leaders ever since he opposed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh before the Congress Core Committee earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Telangana Ministers met in Hyderabad on Thursday evening to discuss the current situation. Senior Minister Jana Reddy told the mediapersons that at a time when efforts to resolve Telangana issue had reached the final stage, attempts by some leaders to provoke the people will complicate the situation. “leaders who had said they will abide by the decision of the party High Command were now refusing to carry the people along,” he said.
