Telangana chalks out plan to retain Tollywood hub

Published on:

The Telangana Government is all set to go all out to retain its image of the “Tollywood hub” and prevent any possible exodus of the Telugu film industry to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

A Cabinet sub-committee, which met in Hyderabad on Monday, decided to introduce a single window system to give clearance to every film in 48 hours. If no reason was shown for any delay, the approval will be deemed to have been granted. This solves one of the biggest grievances of the film industry in the State as clearance of a film depended on the whims and fancies of the officials causing huge financial losses to the filmmakers.

The panel also recommended forming a panel of prominent leaders of film industry to identify suitable land for film institute in Hyderabad. It finalised several sops to promote small films by introducing a fifth show in all the cinema theatres for them. Any film which is released in less than 50 theatres will be recognised as small film, officials said.
