A month after the Tarun Tejpal rape saga hit headlines, the Goan Union of Journalists, a local union of working journalists has organised a workshop to educate journalists on the new laws dealing with rape as well as sexual harassment at the workplace.

President of the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) Kishor Naik Gaonkar said that the workshop was necessary in light of the amendments to ‘the Criminal law (Amendment) Act, 2013.

“Both men and women journalists in Goa need to understand what the new law and its statutes mean and what’s accepted behaviour and what is not at a workplace. The workshop would go a long way in ensuring that sexual harassment is kept at bay in Goa’s media houses,” Gaonkar told The Pioneer. The workshop organised by the GUJ.
