TDP'S whip corners three defectors in T Assembly

Published on:

In a bid to counter Telangana Rashtra Samiti’s game plan to woo more of their MlAs to defect, Opposition Telugu Desam Party issued a whip on Thursday to all their MlAs to be present in the House and vote against Appropriation and Finance Bill 2014 in the State Assembly on Friday.

The whip will cover three TDP MlAs who have defected to TRS in violation of anti-defection law. The main Opposition Congress party, which has also lost four its MlAs to the TRS, has also decided to issue a similar whip to all its 22 legislators.

The whip will be binding on all the MlAs who were elected on the symbols of the two parties to be present in the House and vote against the Finance Bill, failing which the Speaker will be bound to disqualify them from the House.

Originally, the TDP had 15 MlAs in Telangana Assembly but three of them — T Krishna Reddy, T Srinivas Reddy and Dharma Reddy — defected to the TRS. Similarly, of the 22 Congress MlAs four — Rediah Naik, Vithal Reddy, Kakaiah and Yadaiah - joined the TRS.
