TDP MP denies carrying knife inside lok Sabha

A first time MP, TDP’s Venugopala Reddy is alleged to have brandished a knife inside the lok Sabha amid the ruckus over the Telangana Bill — an allegation he denied. He claimed he was merely waving the Speaker’s microphone.

A law graduate, the 48-year-old MP from Narasaraopet is a businessman by profession. He has been making headlines last year for being one of the promoters in his brother-in-law Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy’s Ramky Group — which has been accused by the CBI for gaining in a quid pro quo deal with former YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s Government.

The Ramky Group was allotted SEZ land after it invested `10 crore in Jaganmohan Reddy’s Jagathi Publications. The ED last year had attached Jaganmohan’s property worth `144-cr and this included the 135 acres allotted to the Ramky Group.

The MP recently moved a no-confidence motion along with a Congress MP against the Government against the proposed Bill. He was one of the four TDP MPs who had given notice for no-confidence motion against Govern-ment in December last year.
