TDP MlA remanded to 2-day custody for questioning by ACB

A court in Hyderabad on Wednesday remanded Telugu Desam Party MlA and an accused in the cash-for-vote case S Venkata Veeraiah to two days’ custody of Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The ACB will take him into custody on Thursday morning and shift him from Charalapally jail to its head office where he will be questioned for the next two days. Venkata Veeraiah is the accused number five in the case. The ACB says that he had played a major role in organising the money to offer as a bribe to the nominated member of Telangana Assembly Elvis Stephenson.

Seeking his custody the counsel for ACB produced the transcript of the telephonic conversation between him and another accused Harry Sebastian. But the counsel for the MlA opposed remanding him to the ACB’s custody on the ground that whatever information they needed was already provided by him.

However, the court accepted the plea of ACB and granted his custody on the condition that he will be questioned in the presence of his lawyer during the day.
