TDP MlA 'ready' to face ACB after Reddy's release

A technical error delayed the release of Telugu Desam Party MlA and an accused in cash-for-vote scam A Revanth Reddy from jail by a day. Though the High Court granted him bail on Tuesday, his lawyers could complete the bail formalities only on Wednesday because of an error in the orders.

The lawyers had to approach the High Court again on Wednesday seeking clarification and correction. While the first order had mentioned that bail formalities should be completed before the “ACB police” on Wednesday, the High Court corrected it to the “ACB court”. The first order passed on Tuesday had created confusion and Revanth Reddy had to spend the night in Charalapally jail.

later the Anti-Corruption Bureau court accepted the personal bond of `5 lakh and two sureties of the like amount and issued the orders of the release of Revanth Reddy. Similarly his two associates and accused in the case Harry Sebastian and Uday Simha were also released from the jail.

Revanth Reddy was given a warm welcome by the TDP leaders and workers outside the Charlapally jail and brought to the TDP office in a procession.

Meanwhile, another TDP MlA S Venkat Veeraiah on Wednesday wrote a second letter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau saying he had recovered from illness and was now ready to appear before the agency whenever he was asked to.

ACB had issued him a notice to appear in connection with the cash-for-vote scam two weeks ago but he sought ten days time saying he was admitted to a hospital. The time given to him expired two days ago. ACB suspects that Veeraiah was aware of the conspiracy behind alleged bribing of a nominated MlA Elvis Stephenson.

ACB had caught Revanth Reddy and two others when they were allegedly paying a bribe of `50 lakh to Stephenson on May 31 to get his vote for a TDP candidate in legislative Council elections. Stephenson had lodged a complaint lead to ACB laying a trap.
