TDP interested to be a part of Modi Sarkar

Amid the indications that the Telugu Desam Party is interested in joining a Narendra Modi-led coalition Government at the Centre, party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu will be leaving for New Delhi on May 20 to attend Modi’s swearing-in ceremony as the Prime Minister.

Naidu, who stormed back to power after 10 years in wilderness by winning 102 of the 175 Assembly seats and 15 of the 25 lok Sabha seats in Seemandhra region, did not rule out the possibility of his party joining the NDA Government.

If the TDP does so, it will be first time that it will be part of the NDA Government. During 1998 and 2004, the TDP extended its support to Vajpayee-led coalition from outside.

“This time it’s a pre-poll tie up and we are part of the NDA now,” he said. The issue of the coalition Government was likely to be discussed when the leaders of all the coalition partners will meet in New Delhi. He reiterated that his alliance with the BJP was in the interest of the nation and for the sake of development of Seemandhra. “We are committed to turn Seemandhra into Singapore,” he said.
