Telangana Telugu Desam Party leaders were arrested by the police after they staged a protest outside Raj Bhavan demanding the dismissal of a turncoat Minister T Srinivas Yadav from the TRS Government.
The police rounded up TTDP leader in the State Assembly E Dayakar Rao, State party president l Ramanna and 14 others when they staged a sit-in protest shouting slogans urging the Governor to dismiss the Minister as he had defected to the TRS from the TDP in violation of the anti-defection law.
Earlier, the TDP leaders called on the Governor and submitted a memorandum seeking action against the Minister. However the Governor expressed his inability on the ground that the matter was pending before the High Court. The TDP has stepped up the demand for sacking of T Srinivas Yadav after a query under Right to Information Act revealed that the Minister has not tendered his resignation from the State Assembly.
Yadav was elected to Telangana Assembly from Sanathnagar constituency of Hyderabad on the TDP ticket but later defected to the rulling TRS and was made a Minister. The TDP has been demanding his resignation on the grounds of defection.
A Congress leader G Venkata Ramana Reddy had submitted a query to the Telangana Assembly Secretariat under the RTI whether Srinivas Yadav had submitted his resignation from his seat. Srinivas Yadav had claimed many times that he had submitted his resignation and it was pending before Speaker of the Assembly Madhusudhana Chary. But the Assembly Secretariat in its written reply to the RTI query said that no resignation letter was pending before it.
Alleging that the Minister had faked his resignation, Congress leader Ramana Reddy demanded his immediate dismissal from the Assembly.
In his response, the Commercial Taxes Minister, Srinivas Yadav, on Tuesday reiterated that he had submitted his resignation letter on December 16, 2014.
He warned that he will expose those who were targeting him. “The people who are talking about me should look in to their own character,” he said. “TDP is objecting to TRS admitting the leaders of other parties. Then why the TDP has admitted the leaders of other parties,” he asked.
