Tata to share stage with Bhagwat at RSS HQ

Former Tata Sons chairman Ratan Tata may attend an event in the RSS headquarters in Nagpur in a way similar to the one attended by former President Pranab Mukherjee.

According to sources, Tata will be attending a function  organised by an RSS affiliate Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti (NPSS) on August 24 and share stage with RSS head Mohan Bhagwat.

The business tycoon would be present at RSS headquarters  on the concluding ceremony of the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Nana Palkar, a well-known RSS Pracharak and golden jubilee of the NGO, said the report.

The Samiti is an NGO dedicated to serving patients and has a 10 storied premise near the Tata cancer hospital in Mumbai and serves to patients visiting the hospital. The NGO’s premises have recently been visited by Tata.

NPSS with its efforts solves the problem of accommodation to the patients and their families visiting the Tata and KEM (King Edward Memorial) hospital in Mumbai . In the past a large number of patients and their relatives had to sleep on the road side for the want of accommodation close to hospitals.

The NGO, founded in 1968, provides free accommodation and food to the patients and their two attendees as well as transportation to hospitals.

It was founded in the memory of late Nanasaheb Palkar, writer, orator and a well-known pracharak of the RSS, who was also a social crusader with keen interest in patient-care.

Tata, involved in charities in Nagpur, had reportedly met RSS chief in December 2016 when he had visited the RSS headquarters there.

Mukherjee’s visit to RSS headquarter had caused quite a flutter among his erstwhile Congress colleagues who interpreted it as a step not in tune with the ‘secular theme’ of the Congress of which he was a senior member till he assumed the top post. The Congress, however, later praised him for his address at the RSS headquarters where he in his speech stressed on the broad meaning of Indian nationalism.
