Tapas 'hospitalised' even as BJP demands his expulsion from lS

Trinamool MP and the party’s ‘rape and shoot’ campaigner Tapas Paul has been admitted to a private hospital in South Kolkata with complains of ‘severe backache’ and ‘high blood pressure,’ party sources said, adding he might not be able to attend the on going Parliament Session.

He was hospitalised on Sunday evening ‘with high blood pressure and fever’, hospital sources confirmed, adding it could take days before Paul could be released.

While the doctors said his “condition had worsened since last evening necessitating his immediate hospitalisation.” Curiously, this is the same health facility where the policeman accused of student leader Sudipto Gupta’s custodial death and surrendered Maoist-turned-Trinamool activist Suchitra Mahato — who was a personal attendant of Kishenji — were admitted.

Incidentally, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already directed Paul to avoid Parliament lest his attendance triggered more ruckus in the House.

Video tapes of Paul’s hate speeches, where he openly threatened the Opposition Marxists and their women with rape and murder, had hit the national headlines forcing the Bangla cinestar to seek ‘unconditional’ apology albeit from his party which had instantly obliged him ignoring the mass demand for his arrest and expulsion from Parliament.

Meanwhile, the Bengal unit of the BJP on Monday upped the expulsion heat on Paul saying the party would raise its voice in Parliament seeking Paul’s disqualification from the lok Sabha.

“We want exemplary punishment for Tapas Paul for lowering women’s honour,” State BJP president Rahul Sinha on Monday said, adding the party “would demand his expulsion from the lok Sabha.”

On Paul’s reported hospitalisation, Sinha said the “Trinamool leadership has asked him to get admitted in a hospital and remain out of Parliament for sometime as his presence may create problem for the party. We want him to remain out of the Parliament not temporarily but for ever.”
