The wife of NRHM scam tainted former Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, whom the Samajwadi Party had once described as the mascot of corruption, will now be its candidate in the lok Sabha election.
SP general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said in a statement on Wednesday that party has decided to give its lok Sabha ticket to Shivkanya Kushwaha from Ghazipur seat, replacing Radhe Mohan Singh. No reason has been given for the change of candidature. Shivkanya Kushwaha had recently joined the SP along with the elder brother of Bahujan Samaj Party’s former Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha.
After she joined the party, it was believed that Shivkanya Kushwaha would be given party ticket in the next lok Sabha election. SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav has approved the change of lS candidates for four seats and has announced a fresh candidate, the statement said.
SP MlA Yaseer Shah, son of UP Minister Waqar Ahmed Shah, will be the party candidate from Shravasti seat. Bhalchandra Yadav has replaced Abdul Kalam in Sant Kabir Nagar while Baleshwar Yadav has replaced Ramendra Tripathi in Deoria, and Bechai Ram has replaced Daroga Prasad Saroj on lalganj seat.
With these announcements, the party has named candidates for 77 of the 80 lok Sabha seats in UP. It is yet to announce candidates from Amethi, Raebareli and Rampur constituencies.
