The first of its kind intensive household survey in Telangana was bound to break many myths and older perceptions about the socio economic condition of the people.
The first will be the real population figure of Hyderabad. While so far it was held that the Greater Hyderabad city had only 1.6 million to 1.9 million households. But a pre survey assessment has revealed that the real number was any where between 2.3 to 2.5 million households and the population was likely to be 11 to 12 million and not 7.6 million as was believed earlier.
As per the earlier estimates the GHMC had prepared 2 million survey forms for the city but the authorities faced severe shortage. The survey was also expected to help the authorities to get real number of illegally constructed houses and the households, which were not paying property tax.
