T supporters smell a rat in 'prorogue AP House' move

Even as the Central Government is about to give a final shape to the Bill to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and carve out a separate Telangana State, and send it for the views of the State Assembly, in a surprise move the Chief Minister’s office has written to the Secretary, AP legislature to prorogue the Assembly.

While various motives were being attributed to the move, the CMO on Friday issued a clarification that the letter was sent to the Secretary for an administrative purpose. As the State Government cannot get any Ordinance promulgated if the Assembly was not prorogued, a formal letter was sent to the Secretary to prorogue the House, the CMO said.

The development has caused concern among the supporters of the Telangana State who smelled a rat behind the move. They fear that the opponents of Telangana, including the Chief Minister, were trying to create the hurdles in the way of convening the Winter Session of the State Assembly to take up the Telangana Bill for consideration.

As it is a discussion is going on in the political and legal circle whether the session of the Assembly can be convened by the Governor or the Speaker on his own if the State Cabinet refuses to make any such recommendation to them.
