Taking a novel path to foster and promote communal harmony and brotherhood during the month of Ramadan, the Telangana Police has launched a campaign of cleaning of the religious places by joining hands with the local people.
In the communally sensitive Bhainsa town, where the religious festivals are often marred by communal clashes and tension, the police sprung a surprise by taking up the brooms and cleaning and washing of the main mosque of the town.
At the same time, they also cleaned the nearby Maha lakshmi temple along with the temple committee office-bearers and local people.
“This is to bring the two communities closer,” said an officer who participated in the programme.
A team of police officers led by the Circle Inspector A Raghu personally swept and washed the Panje Shah Mosque in the heart of the town on Saturday. Sub-Inspectors Tirupati, A Mahinder and Abdul Nazeer also participated in the program. Mosque committee president Ahmad Hussain and former Chairman of Bhainsa Municipal Council Aijaz Ahmad Khan and a large number of worshippers took part in the cleaning and washing of the place along with the policemen.
“We have taken up this program in the holy month to promote communal harmony and brotherhood among the different communities. It will help in strengthening the peace and take the city on the path of the development”, said Raghu. The programme coincided with the visit of Adilabad district Superintendent of Police Vikramjeet Duggal to Bhainsa.
Thanking the police officials for their initiative, Ahmad Hussain said that Muslim community very much appreciated for this gesture on the part of the police.
Panje Shah Mosque is located in the most sensitive locality of Bhainsa which witnessed many communal clashes during the festivals in the past.
In Warangal district of Telangana, Superintendent of Police Sudhir Babu has also launched a unique initiative of plantation in all the mosques and shrines as part of the beautification and cleanliness drive.
Policemen along with the local people have taken up plantation of trees in nearly 287 mosques and shrines in Warangal coinciding with Ramadan.
