Parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are reeling under intense heat wave as temperature has shot up to a record of more than 46 degrees celsius in Nizamabad district. While four people died due to sunstroke in Karimnagar district of Telangana, three died in Srikakulam district of AP on Wednesday. Along with the scorching heat, the hot winds have worsened the woes of the people. Many major towns of Telangana wore a deserted look in the afternoon as people preferred to remain indoors.

The sharp increase in the temperature is being seen as the parting kick of the summer. While most of the summer season passed off without any major problems as the temperature mostly remained below 40 degrees or even below normal with frequent unseasonal rains lashing both the States, it has suddenly shot up over the last few days when the monsoon was hardly a fortnight away.

Meteorological Center at Hyderabad said that the highest temperature of 46.1 degrees was recorded at Nizamabad followed by 45.4 at Ramagundam in Karimnagar and 45 degrees at Adilabad all in north Telangana. Hyderabad itself was sizzling at 42.5 degrees Celsius and the people were forced to stay indoors to avoid sunstroke.

Even more difficult days lie ahead as the temperature is likely to soar further in the days to come, it said. The mercury in Hyderabad is likely to touch 43 degrees over the next 48 hours and it will hover above 45 degrees in Nizamabad over the next three days. It is expected to be between 42 and 43 degrees in Vijayawada, another hot spot in Andhra Pradesh. In Srikakulam, the district collector has urged the people not to venture out in to open during the afternoon in view of the heat wave conditions. He also asked the officials to stop the work by daily wage earners at the peak of the day temperature.
