Recruitment in judicial services without the bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh High Court has left the lawyers of Telangana seething with frustration and sparked an intense agitation. After a week of demonstration outside the courts in Telangana, during which eggs were hurled at judges in Ranga Reddy, Telangana Rashtra High Court Saadhana Samiti organised Chalo Secretariat in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Samiti leaders allege that the law department is trying to recruit the civil judges without the bifurcation of High Court. The Samiti demanded that 97 posts of civil judges, which were being recruited under the February 1, 2014 notification and subsequent presidential order, should be filled only after the High Court was bifurcated and subordinate judicial officers and employees were divided between the two States.
In view of the ongoing agitation by lawyers for the establishment of High Court for Telangana State and stopping recruitment till bifurcation of the court, the police stepped up security in the courts. large number of police personnel are being mobilised as a precautionary measure.
Earlier, advocates gathered at Indira Park and tried to move towards secretariat but police stopped them. Samiti Chairman Sahodar Reddy urged both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governments to put pressure on the Central Government to initiate the process of dividing the High Court.
“Our protest will continue till the demands were met”, he said All the political parties of Telangana including the ruling TRS were also supporting the demand.
