Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday slammed the Trinamool Congress Government for running a “syndicate and mafia raj” in Bengal and attacked it for doing nothing about the post-poll violence in the State.
The Governor after meeting a team of opposition leaders led by Suvendu Adhikari said that even the Calcutta High Court had gone said on 22nd February this year how “syndicates and mafias are operational in every nook and corner of this State.”
Saying that the State Government had done nothing about the post poll violence the Governor said that such administrative deficiencies were a “blot” on the State.
“As governor of the state, I am concerned that severe category violence happened in state. Post-poll violence is a blot on this land, government of day is not taking enough steps to curb the violence. Mafia and Syndicate raj is there in every corner,” Dhankar said.
His statements came moments after the State Assembly passed a second bill replacing him by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as the Chancellor of universities in government technological universities. Earlier a similar bill was passed to the same effect for the general universities. Referring to the issue he said, “Changes were brought to replace the state's Governor by CM including in institutions, govt bodies & as Chancellor of universities. I’ll consider all these bills as per the constitution & will examine them as per the SC decision.”
