Upset over excessive media attention on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s kidney transplant, her husband Swaraj Kaushal has pleaded for some privacy for the Minister as she prepares for undergoing the crucial operation.
“The media reports about Sushma’s surgery are so detailed. I think we will have to prepare for a live telecast. Alas ! A lady in public life is also a citizen of India and entitled to some privacy” Kaushal said on Twitter.
Shortly after a committee at AIIMS cleared Swaraj’s case to receive a kidney, media reports claimed that the donor was alive and unrelated to her, prompting Kaushal to react.
Sushma broke the news about her illness on Twitter nearly three weeks ago saying she had been hospitalised because of kidney failure. Her tweet generated a lot of sympathy and buzz with several people offering their kidney to the Minister.
