Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has announced the formation of a new organisation, 'Virat Hindustan Sangam' (VHS), aiming to rope in educated youths visible on Twitter or social media under the banner.
The organisation would push for Hindutva issues like securing the disputed Ram Mandir area for building a temple by persuading Muslims to accept an alternative site, abrogation of Article 370, ban on cow killings and adoption of Uniform Civil Code .
Swamy, a BJP National Executive member, on Wednesday said the VHS would educate "Virat Hindustani' with knowledge of 'Hindu' values, philosophy and 'Rashtravad' and later offer them as political leaders to be inducted in the BJP.
"We will take up from January 1, 2016 the Ram temple issue. I will want the Government to follow the Saudi Arabian example of offering the Waqf Board a site across the Saryu River for building a mosque...And leave the Ram temple premises completely for temple.
"We hope to complete it by the end of 2016 because of our activism both in courts and in terms of pushing the Government," he said, adding that he would have finished most of his legal work in the Supreme Court by then.
Giving an example, Swamy said a mosque was recently "demolished" in West Bengal by Muslims so that a larger space could be created to offer prayers there. Saying there is nothing new in demolition, he quoted Saudi Prince (whom he met) saying a lot of development projects were carried out in that country by removing mosques.
Unlike mosque, the BJP leader said a temple can not be demolished "as the lord becomes its owner" after 'Pran Prathishtha'. The VHS would include in the outfit all those persons of Indian origin, including Muslims and Christians, who acknowledge that their ancestors were Hindus.
Addressing a Press conference here, Swamy said the VHS would invite these youngsters to help them develop a clarity on the issues of 'Hindutva’ and 'Rashtravad'. The BJP leader, however, clarified that it would not be a "Ghar wapsi programme (re-conversion) as initiated by the VHP.
The next meeting of the VHS would be held in Mumbai on May 2 and 3 at the Ram Bhau Mhalgi Centre. The new ogranisation has a website and has already registered 7,200 members, he said. Swamy said VHS has contact with the RSS and indicated that it will also act as a pressure group on the ruling BJP.
